This site is dedicated to the memory of Janet McDonald.

A beautiful Lady who will never be forgotten, she touched so many hearts with her kind, generous nature. She enjoyed nothing more than spending time with her family and friends, especially her girls and Grandson Jak. She loved a laugh and she would not stand for a bad word said against Liverpool FC. She died 16th April 2008 at only 48 years old. We wanted to create this page in memory of our brave and wonderful Mum, and also to generate awareness of Ovarian Cancer to all women, young and old. Our Mum went to her GP suffering with Ovarian Cancer symptoms 2 and a half years before her doctor diagnosed her. By then it was too late to cure and Mum died five months later. It’s so sad to think that with more knowledge about this cancer our Mum, as well as many other women could still be here today. Ovarian Cancer is also known as the silent killer as it is one the hardest cancers to detect. Due to lack of knowledge about this cancer GPs often misdiagnose Ovarian Cancer symptoms as a range of other less serious illnesses, such as, IBS, water infections, non-cancerous cysts and severe period pains. When this cancer is diagnosed late there is a very low rate of survival with only 30% of sufferers making a complete recovery. The main three symptoms we want Everyone to be aware of are, - Persistent pelvic and abdominal pain. - Increased abdominal size/persistent bloating (not bloating that comes and goes). - Difficulty eating and feeling full quickly or feeling nauseous. Ovarian cancer is at its very early stage of research and needs lots more investment to help early diagnosis for women and doctors. Please help us to raise awareness and support in finding a cure by donating on the link attached.
